Cookies

Nothing is set until you say yes. Google Analytics is the only thing here that sets cookies, it is not loaded at all before you accept, and rejecting costs you nothing — the site works identically either way. Page views also go to the operator's own HEKNO Analytics, which is gated on the same answer and is listed below because it stores nothing at all.

The cookie register

Every HEKNO site must maintain a register of cookies and similar technologies. This is Material World’s, in full.

That is the whole list. There is no advertising cookie, no personalisation cookie, no pixel, no tag manager and no embedded third-party content anywhere on the site.

The register is short by one entry that some readers will expect. Page views also go to HEKNO Analytics, the operator’s own service, and it appears nowhere above because it uses none of the technologies this policy covers: no cookie, no local storage, no pixel and no device identifier. Its session identifier exists in the tab’s memory and is gone when the tab closes. It is gated on the same answer you gave here, and it is listed as a supplier on the privacy page, which is where a recipient of data belongs when it stores nothing to register.

Nothing loads before you accept

This is stronger than it usually is. Most sites load the analytics tag immediately and instruct it not to store anything until consent — which still sends a request to the analytics provider on every page.

Material World does not load the tag at all. Google receives nothing — not a request, not a cookieless ping, nothing — unless you have accepted. Consent Mode is initialised denied by default in the same snippet as a second layer, in case the tag is ever reached another way.

The property is G-RJ07PVDPHL. What it measures is page views: which pages were read, and roughly how many people read them. It is not used to personalise anything, because there is nothing here that is personalised.

Changing your mind

Your choice is remembered in your browser’s local storage so you are not asked twice. Clearing it brings the question back, and you can answer it differently.

Rejecting is one click and is offered before accepting rather than after it. A banner that reappears every visit until you give in is a dark pattern with a compliance sticker on it, and this is not one.

The one cookie you will never receive

Material World has a private editing area, used by us to check facts before they appear here. Somebody signed in to it is given a session cookie. It is switched off on the public site, cannot be reached from it, and fails closed — no reader of these pages is ever given one. It is listed because it is the only other cookie this domain can set, and a register that quietly omitted it would not be a register.

Cookies and similar technologies

This policy covers cookies, local storage, pixels, tags, SDKs, device identifiers and similar technologies. The categories are: strictly necessary, functional, analytics, advertising, and embedded or third-party content.

Nothing that is not strictly necessary runs before you have said yes. Refusing is as easy as accepting, your answer is remembered, and you can withdraw it at any time. If what we use analytics for changes, or we add a supplier, we will ask you again rather than treat your old answer as covering it.

The register above is the complete list, and it names what each item is for, who provides it, how long it lasts and how to control it. A service named anywhere in this policy is one we may use under it — not one that is running unless the register says so.
