Reporting an error

The most useful report names three things:

• The page and the claim.“The density on the quartz page” is enough — every claim on a page is individually identified.
• What it should say, if you know.
• A source, if you have one. This matters more than it sounds: we cannot publish a correction we cannot cite, so a report with a reference can be acted on and one without it can only be investigated.

Write to hello@hekno.co.uk. Include the product name, the page address, the date you saw it, the problem, and the resolution you are asking for.

What happens to a correction

The disputed figure comes off the page while we look into it, and your reason for questioning it goes up in its place. You will not find it quietly altered and the question you raised nowhere to be seen.

If the sources genuinely disagree, we do not pick a winner and delete the loser. The disagreement is recorded and shown, which is what how we work describes.

Questioning a claim rather than correcting it

Equally welcome, and often more useful. “This figure is right but the conditions are missing”, “this is true of the pure element and not the alloy”, or “this source is weaker than you have rated it” are all reports we can act on, and all of them describe the kind of fault this site is built to be able to admit.

Corrections, complaints and takedowns

Reports should identify the product, URL, date, issue, desired resolution and evidence. HEKNO may classify issues as urgent safety or legal, privacy or security, factual error, calculation defect, attribution or rights, accessibility, or ordinary update.

Possible actions include correction, clarification, warning, temporary suspension, evidence update, audit note, or an explanation of why nothing changed. Material corrections should not be hidden merely to protect appearance.

A rights notice should include claimant identity and authority, the protected work or right, the disputed location, an explanation, the requested action and accurate contact details. HEKNO may request more information, preserve evidence, contact relevant parties, restrict material or reject unsupported notices.
